News that Denmark has supposedly banned Marmite has caused both confusion and outrage across the UK over the last couple of days. The story received substantial coverage in mainstream news including The Telegraph, The Guardian and even BBC Breakfast News.
Today’s news that Marks & Spencer has made a 12.9% jump in underlying pre-tax profits prompted us to take a look at the social media story behind the brand over the last few months. Although M&S can obviously give us their take on this heartening news – on BBC Breakfast they assured us that customers had chosen M&S as the place to treat themselves to quality goods while they were cutting back in other areas on cheaper brands – we seized the opportunity to dig deeper into social media to find out what customers are actually saying. The other day I saw someone asking for advice on what were considered to be the ‘most important’ data visualisations in social media monitoring. This struck me as a bit of a strange question, so I decided to write a bit about it.
This morning Brand Republic published The BR 200 – a list of 200 of the web’s most influential bloggers on marketing, media and digital.
Unsurprisingly, there has been a fair amount of excitement surrounding the list so far today, with some people questioning ‘surprising entries’ and ‘curious omissions’.
Brands will find a more receptive audience on Gransnet, Mumsnet’s new spin-off for grandmothers, than the original site, according to co-founder and chief executive Justine Roberts.
