React: Twitter Reacts to Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 3

Brandwatch monitors how Twitter reacts to Game of Thrones season 6 episode 3 minute-by-minute.

Another explosive episode of Game of Thrones Season 6 has hit our screens, and with it comes explosive (but spoiler free) data.

We tracked mentions of the show and characters throughout the first showing of episode 3 and here’s what we found.

Yet again it was the end of the episode that got the most mentions, with 9:55pm accumulating 3k mentions overall.

GOT Episode 3 mention volume

This is a common theme so far in the series, with episodes one and two having similar spikes right at the end. The writers clearly like to save the biggest surprises until the later minutes.

However, this was certainly the lowest performing episode in terms of Twitter mentions so far. The show garnered around 70k mentions during the hour it first aired, compared to last week’s 144k and the premiere’s 166k.

Jon Snow is a star on social

Jon Snow certainly has a talent for capturing Twitter’s attention and he turned out, again, to be the top mentioned character.

Top mentioned Charaters GoT ep 3

This marks Tyrion Lannister’s third placement in the top five most mentioned characters in an episode, while Bran Stark and Daenerys Targaryen have both featured once before.

As well as overall mentions, Snow garnered the highest mention spikes, towering over all of the other characters’ mentions.
GOT Ep 3 character spikes
Arya Stark and Tyrion Lannister took second and third, while Davos Seaworth, Ramsay Bolton and Daenerys Targaryen received modest spikes.

Again, compared to previous episodes all these spikes are fairly modest. Last week Jon Snow got 2k tweets in a single minute while this week the figure was around 400.

Happy Mother of Dragons day

The official Game of Thrones Twitter account decided to celebrate Mothers’ Day with this GIF. It turned out to be the most mentioned GoT related link yesterday.

What did you think of this week’s episode?
