The Windows phones
Last week the first Windows phones were launched and with them, Nokia’s fight back. HTC, which has been quietly scooping up the Android market, suddenly came face to face with new competition in the form of the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia Lumia 710.
The Windows phone definitely marks the biggest change in mobile direction for a while – and at Brandwatch, we haven’t done a tech review for a while. As such, we thought we’d turn to social media to decide which Windows phone wins…. this week.
We’ve pitched the two new Nokia phones against the HTC Titan.

Looking at sentiment for the phones across the board, you will see they are all fairly well matched, although the HTC Titan has significantly fewer mentions. On closer inspection, a lot of the buzz on Twitter proved to be simply excitement that the phones were coming out, coupled with extra buzz at the announcement of each different feature they would provide. I think it is fair to say that the majority of even tech savvy mobile users haven’t yet got hold of one of these phones, let alone had time out of their day job to explore and review all the features.
With tech this new, we need guidance from expert, unbiased opinions: bloggers.

With other social media mentions filtered out and our sentiment classifiers relying only on content from blogs, it still seems that the phones are fairly evenly matched. However, a winner does emerge – The Nokia 800.
So there it is folks – the payday weekend Brandwatch buy!
Something for the weekend:
- A bit skint but creatively brilliant? Pay in pictures…
- ANIMALS TALKING ALL IN CAPS – that’s it.
- Americans’ right to hang fake balls on trucks left dangling
Hope you enjoyed the Friday#, have a great weekend.
