Brandwatch is looking for a Sales Engineer: someone passionate about technology and business, who wants to help potential clients design solutions to marketing problems using social data.  You will be a trusted advisor in meetings, a prolific creator of demonstration builds, and a key person across our largest and most complex deals.  You will use your position in Professional Services to bring the best technical thinking to Brandwatch’s global sales organization.

You will:

  • Build use-case driven configurations tailored to prospects’ needs, as discovered by the sales leads
  • Create demonstrations tailored to the appropriate audience: from CMO to analyst to community manager
  • Collaborate with sales team leads to find real stories and insights in the data
  • Introduce bleeding edge implementation techniques to demonstrate unique ways Brandwatch can solve prospects’ problems and features of the roadmap still in beta
  • Contribute technical knowledge to RFP questions and the questions database
  • Communicate pitch feedback to product teams, and create feature requests

Due to our rapid expansion we are looking for a Senior Market Research Analyst (Social Media) in our New York office.

The Role: 

This role sits in the Research Services team, reporting to the Head of Research Services.The purpose of our team is to help clients use social data to make better decisions and to understand their customers. The analysis skills needed are largely qualitative; it is important that the candidate is skilled in interpreting meaning from textual data. The successful candidate will be commercially minded, and able to demonstrate that they can understand consumer motivations and translate these into suggested actions for a business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting analyses following a customized client briefs
  • Writing bespoke one-off and regular reports, working with account managers to ensure delivery is on time, on budget and to client’s satisfaction
  • Present your research back to the client (both face to face and over the phone) and hold Q&A sessions regarding your work
  • Project managing/co-ordinating other contributors to complete parts of larger reports
  • Suggesting and creating compelling research for sales collateral, our blog, industry events and so on
  • Staying up to date with the social media industry, in particular news relating to new analytical ideas and methodologies
  • Continually seek to identify, suggest and implement improvements both to the Brandwatch Platform and our research methodologies
  • Assisting with training and mentoring of junior members of the team

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 4-7 years experience in a commercial research environment, ideally with exposure to working with social media data
  • Strong analytical background with the ability to highlight the interesting/actionable findings in a broad and complex dataset
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to clearly explain complex ideas and data, both verbally with clients and in written reports
  • Well versed in the major channels and sites in social media
  • Calm under pressure and collaborative in working style
  • Highly organized and capable of managing workload in deadline driven environment
  • A good level of competency in Excel (including formulas, pivot tables & charting), Word and PowerPoint

Role Overview

Ideal background:

Reporting to the CFO the GFC will lead the global finance team in all aspects of financial operations, month end accounting, statutory P&L reporting and financial compliance activities. You will be instrumental in running global financial operations and delivering financial information to senior managers and to the board. You will work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to help deliver best in class management reporting and business planning. Key responsibilities will include

  • Leading and managing a team of three direct reports globally and a team of nine in total, with further growth expected.

This role will be responsible for creative solutions across print and digital media. You will lead design solutions from conception, development to delivery.

You’ll report directly to and work closely with the Design Manager, working to Agile methodologies to manage your workload within the team. You will also liaise directly with other Brandwatchers and external suppliers.

You’ll be working within a highly-skilled team to understand the new functionality being developed, perform testing using both manual and automation test techniques, report issues and test the resulting fixes.

What you need:

  • Solid experience with commercial web-based testing
  • Experience across both Manual and Automation Testing frameworks, or the desire to move into an Automation environment

Brandwatch loves automation and efficiency. As a Linux Systems Engineer, you’ll help us create a flexible and extensible compute platform which exhibits the ease of use of AWS both in our own data centres and in the cloud. We have three main consumables – bare metal, virtual machines (using OpenStack) and containers (using Docker).

Alongside this, you will work on an overall orchestration layer so we can treat all three of these products – with the addition of external providers (eg. AWS) – similarly and as a flexible pool of resource.

You’ll be an expert in configuration management and will have held a previous role in a DevOps or similar environment. You should have experience of managing a large-scale server estate in an organisation where open-source software is king.

Your role will include:

  • Design and build technical solutions which provide generic and flexible hosting elements to form the basis of all Brandwatch services
  • Maintain essential services such as build automation, configuration management, monitoring and backup so these platforms can be consumed as a service by other teams
  • Automate all repeatable aspects of the role; aim to increase efficiency of yourself and others
  • Contribute to the overall platform strategy and make recommendations on technologies to achieve it; maintain an up-to-date view on new technologies and solutions
  • Inspire and influence best practice in all areas, including application delivery pipelines

You will have:

  • Deep proficiency in Puppet or another configuration management tool
  • A good understanding of OpenStack and experience of deploying it
  • Strong understanding of the Linux operating system, particularly Debian and Ubuntu distributions in a large web environment

As we continue our rapid expansion, we are hiring a Data Scientist to join our Audiences team in Brighton. This team is building an exciting new product which will allow our clients to understand their customers in unprecedented detail. As you can imagine, this requires solving some extremely challenging machine learning problems along the way!

The role will include:

  • Working as part of a cross-functional team of developers, data scientists, designers and QA engineers
  • Building algorithms to extract insight from a social media dataset currently growing at more than 100GB a day
  • Devising new features and conducting experiments to prove value and effectiveness
  • Utilising big data technologies such as Elasticsearch and Spark

You should have:

  • A good working knowledge of statistics and machine learning algorithms, especially in the NLP and graph space
  • Commercial experience with Python, Java or Scala
  • An acute ability to work with big data and associated tools (eg. Hadoop or Spark)

<span style=""Data is the life-blood of a company like Brandwatch, and as we approach the petabyte mark, the challenges we face are interesting and rewarding. We are looking for someone who would find these challenges interesting and rewarding too.  

You will be joining the team responsible for the data storage and retrieval systems, primarily focusing on Solr, HBase, Hadoop, Zookeeper and Kafka. Some familiarity with PostgreSQL databases would be beneficial, though this is not a primary responsibility of this role.

We are looking for someone who is smart, capable, enthusiastic and willing to learn these systems in greater depth. You will be part of the 24×7 support rota covering these systems, so will need to coolly handle incidents on the platforms and more importantly be working to preempt any issues.

Your role will include:
  • Working with the rest of the team to maintain our production Hadoop, HBase, Solr and Kafka infrastructure on a 24×7 basis
  • Identify performance bottlenecks in the platform, including:
  • Deep-diving into the source-code to identify issues with the storage systems
  • Working very closely with the developer teams to avoid anti-patterns, and identifying workable alternatives if so
  • Improving our puppet codebase and python-based tooling, in order to simplify and automate recurring tasks
  • Continually improving instrumentation and monitoring
  • Proactively fix potential issues on the data platforms, including capacity planning
  • Planning and undertaking system maintenance, including upgrades and capacity expansion
  • Identify new technologies and capabilities for the improvement of the Brandwatch platform, from within or outside the Hadoop ecosystem
You will have:
  • In-depth experience administering live database or data-analytics clusters, and ideally ones which you have shepherded through from inception.
  • Experience with Linux server configuration and performance tuning in a production environment
  • Experience using Hadoop and awareness of its ecosystem
  • Experience with Puppet configuration management
  • Some coding experience, ideally in Python, Java or C
  • A commitment to learning and openness to new ideas

You will be able to gain, or expand your, knowledge of:

  • Management of multiple 250TB+ HBase and Hadoop clusters, including management of the jobs that run on them
  • Running Solr, and possibly ElasticSearch, for large scale analytics workloads
  • Supporting a Kafka-based streaming architecture
  • Running and creating instrumentation for our data platforms (Hadoop, Solr, Zookeeper, Kafka, etc.), integrated with InfluxDB, Sensu and Logstash
  • Producing replicable and manageable platforms across all environments using Puppet and Python-based tooling
  • Building, packaging and patching our open-source storage platforms
  • Experience managing PostgreSQL in production

Technical support for a technology company is a big task. As an Enterprise Systems Analyst, you will support the internal system needs of every Brandwatch employee worldwide. They rely on the technical solutions you build and support, which enable them to deliver an efficient and reliable service to our customers.

You’ll work alongside some of the brightest minds in systems management and software engineering and work through a structured apprenticeship which will result in formal qualifications and hands‐on experience. Your structured training will be provided in conjunction with City College Brighton and Hove.

You will be highly enthusiastic and a natural‐born fixer. An inquisitive mind and a healthy desire to take things apart to see how they work are a must. We also want you to have a bubbly personality, so you get on well with our users and get to understand their needs.

Already proficient at using and fixing your own computer, you will probably be the go‐to person for computer and tech related troubles in your family or friend group too. If you have any experience of installing Linux then this will be a bonus.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll gain experience of supporting and building systems which are critical to a multi‐national organisation, with strong attention to automation.
