Soundtrack to the #ukriots

We have been tracking various things to do with this week’s riots from the developing role played by BlackBerry Messenger, how its use in the context of the riots might affect sentiment towards the BlackBerry brand, and the clean-up effort through #riotcleanup. But since it’s Friday, we thought we’d take a quick look at the music behind the riots and what people felt compelled to listen to at this time.

While there were a few titles put forward including Ice Cube – Tear This Mother Up, predictably Kaiser Chiefs – I Predict A Riot and a more mature David Bowie – Shake It, due to the sheer diversity of tunes offered, the word cloud shows only one real contender.

Although not immediately easy to decipher – the Riot Music for 2011 crown goes to The Clash for White Riot.

An interesting take on the soundtrack to the riots, is that when talking about what they were listening to, the sentiment shot up.

The moral? Make music not riots and everyone’s happy…
