  • Identify performance bottlenecks in the platform, including: deep-diving into the source-code to identify issues with the storage systems and working very closely with the developer teams to avoid anti-patterns, and identifying workable alternatives if so
  • Improving our puppet codebase and python-based tooling, in order to simplify and automate recurring tasks
  • Continually improving instrumentation and monitoring
  • Identify new technologies and capabilities for the improvement of the Brandwatch platform, from within or outside the Hadoop ecosystem

You will have:

  • First-hand experience supporting a live production system
  • Experience with Linux server configuration and performance tuning in a production environment

  • Running Solr for large scale analytics workloads
  • Running and creating instrumentation for our data platforms (Hadoop, Solr, Zookeeper, Kafka, etc.), integrated with InfluxDB, Sensu and Logstash
  • Producing replicable and manageable platforms across all environments using Puppet and Python-based tooling
  • Building, packaging and patching our open-source storage platforms
  • Handling the inevitable system failures in a positive and supportive company culture
