Brandwatch Announces Founding Membership with Big Boulder Initiative

Chief Marketing Officer Will McInnes joins BBI board

NEW YORK, January 22, 2015 — Brandwatch, one of the world’s leading social intelligence companies, today announced its founding membership with the Big Boulder Initiative (BBI), the social data trade association that brings together the ecosystem to collaborate on best practices, knowledge sharing and address key challenges. Will McInnes, Brandwatch CMO, joins as a BBI board observer.

“I’m delighted to join the Big Boulder Initiative board,” said McInnes. “Brandwatch’s founding membership is a strategic move for us to sync with other leaders in our industry. Our goals are to collaborate on industry standards, advance social data practices, and work together to address the big challenges. Together we’re striving to make the industry better, smarter, safer, and more valuable. It’s a bit like the wild wild west right now in the social arena, and as pioneers we believe the BBI will play a crucial role in helping the whole ecosystem mature and advance.”

BBI is the world’s leading association wholly dedicated to the advancement of social data. Brandwatch joins other board observers from IBM, Twitter, and NetBase. BBI is also adding new high quality representation from the enterprise, startups, and academia with the election of three new members to its board of directors:

  • Justin DeGraaf, Global Media Insights Director of The Coca-Cola Company
  • Mark Josephson, CEO of Bitly
  • Farida Vis, Director of the Visual Social Media Lab and Faculty Research Fellow at The University for Sheffield

In conjunction with other founding members, Brandwatch’s affiliation with BBI will support a calendar of events and other investments bringing together different companies and groups within the social data industry.

“On behalf of myself and the entire board of directors, we are excited to have Brandwatch join the discussion as we kick-off 2015,” said Chris Moody, Chairman of the Big Boulder Initiative board of directors. “With the addition of their voice, we have strong representation from the social data ecosystem that will help us drive our mission forward.”
