BrandwatchTips: The Official 2015 Social Data Cheat Sheet

Anyone with even a brief history of gaming before the widespread use of the internet will remember video game cheat sheets.

Those crumpled up pieces of paper we all cared for and worshipped – so much so that many of us would know the codes off by heart.

CIRCLE, L1, TRIANGLE, R2, X, SQUARE, CIRCLE, RIGHT, SQUARE, L1, L1, L1 anyone?

I loved cheating the system, finding the hidden easter eggs in games and using a code to alter the way I played.

Many of the developers building our own products share this love, and although they couldn’t include actual cheat codes within our own platform, they have been able to add small shortcuts to help make our customers’ lives easier.

Here’s our very own social data cheat sheet. Let’s go!

New Brandwatch shortcuts

Quick test Query/ simply press Ctrl+Enter to quickly test your Query.

Perfect for making regular amendments to a complex Query.

Query rename/ We’ve added the ability to edit your Query name for the Query list, rather than having to go into the Query to edit.

Reports/ Save the time spent analyzing and exporting with our brand new Automated Reports.

Often forgotten Brandwatch shortcuts

Rearrange/ Drag components to present them side by side.

Create Rules in mentions/ Use the mentions component to set up Rules instead of going into the Tools section.

Download and upload dashboards/ Rather then recreating an existing dashboard from scratch, download your dashboard and upload it.

Single mention view shortcuts

Pos, Neu, Neg/ Use the keys S – Positive, D – Neutral, F – Negative to quickly assign sentiment to mentions in the single mention view.

Flag and tag/ Press R to quickly flag a mention and T to immediately enter a tag.

Remove and report/ Use the O key to delete a mention, and P to report a mention as spam.

Workflow keys/ The space button and N key allow users to quickly check (declare a mention has been viewed) or set as ‘Checked & Next’ (declare a mention has been viewed and load the next one).

Next and previous/ Use the arrow keys to quickly navigate between mentions in the single mention view.

Although these cheats won’t allow you to dethrone an empire with a fleet of Shelby Cobras, or allow you to build the house of your dreams, they will make your life easier and could change the way you use Brandwatch.
